Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU (Night Shift)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule

3 shifts per week
12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)

Unit Description

Acute care ortho trauma unit with PCU patients
Common diagnoses: SBO, Fall, Laceration, Pneumonia, Head injury, TBI, Trauma, Ileus, Fistula, Fractures

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Background & Compliance Requirements

7-year criminal background check (including FBI and state fingerprinting) required within 90 days of start
Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
Ohio BCI & FBI fingerprinting required (code 3701.881) with specific timing rules for renewals and breaks in service
Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap (adult dose)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption allowed)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Competency & Testing Requirements

Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam prior to start
Unit-specific competency exam
Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (with remediation process if failed)

Additional Requirements

2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
Employment application including education verification
Skills checklist required
Annual acknowledgment of dress code and hand hygiene policy
Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgment
Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
Ethics and compliance policies review and acknowledgment annually
