Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Oncology Clinic

Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position involves working in a temporary oncology clinic caring for both acute admitted inpatients and ambulatory patients.
  • Responsibilities include inpatient care, receiving and calling reports on admitted patients, and managing ambulatory patient needs.
  • Must be able to safely move and transfer patients, including total lift patients.
  • Work schedule: 8-hour shifts with varying start times.
  • Must be able to float to other facilities within the health system.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an acute care setting (medical-surgical or ICU).
  • Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience.
  • Recent ambulatory care experience.
  • IV therapy experience.
  • Ability to float to other facilities as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Radiation Oncology.
  • Experience in Wound Care Management.

Certifications & Competencies

  • Must have AHA-approved BLS and ACLS certifications (no placeholders).
  • Chemotherapy (CHEMO) certification required for oncology roles.
  • Pass/Fail Telemetry and Medication competency exams required.
  • Unit-specific competency exams with a passing score of 80% or higher.
  • Core clinical competency modules must be completed and updated annually.

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check including specific county and nationwide searches.
  • Education verification (diploma or transcript acceptable).
  • Primary source license verification.
  • Drug testing (standard 9-panel, excluding THC) within 30 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness.
  • Fit mask testing within 1 year of start (specific approved mask types required).
  • Immunizations and titers required: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years), TB testing (2 negative tests required), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required.
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption required.

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete facility-specific learning modules and pass related quizzes.
  • Must complete annual TB questionnaire and other health screenings as required.
  • Two supervisory references required, preferably from the most recent employment.
  • Updated resume with 7 years of work history; gaps of 30 days or more must be explained.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually.
  • Ability to work varied shifts and float to multiple units.
