Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech
Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Description
- Call required.
- Day shift hours may shift slightly due to scheduled patients.
- Requires good communication skills, attention to detail, and patient-centeredness.
- Prefer technologist experienced in all types of PET/CT scans including general FDG Oncology, NET, PSMA, Neurology, and Cardiac imaging.
- Equipment used includes Siemens cameras (Symbia, Intevo SPECT/CT, Biograph MCT Flow PET/CT).
- Travelers will rotate between General Nuclear Medicine (routine studies like Bones, Gastrics, Hepatos, Renals, etc.) and PET/CT.
- Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted.
Required Qualifications
- License: Must hold a valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license appropriate for the specialty.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit.
- Other specialty certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM).
- Experience:
- Prior experience performing various PET/CT scans preferred.
- Years of experience not explicitly stated; candidates should have solid experience in Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT imaging.
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background checks including county and national criminal searches, sex offender search, education verification, and others required and must be current.

- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.

- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual renewal)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
- COVID vaccination or approved exemption (booster preferred but not required)
Competency and Skills Verification
- Must complete required competency exams and skills checklists annually or as specified.
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required for RNs; Nuclear Medicine Techs should verify specific requirements.
- Color blindness testing required within 1 year of start.
- Pass/fail testing (e.g., EKG or medication exams) may be required depending on unit assignment.
Additional Requirements
- References: Two professional references verified within 6 months of start, preferably from direct supervisors.
- Employment history verification for the past 7 years required.
- Explanation required for any employment gaps longer than 30 days.
- Must sign facility-specific policies including confidentiality, acceptable use, electronic communications, and password policies prior to start.
Notes
- Candidates must renew all expiring documents prior to clearance for assignment start.
- Travelers must be prepared to rotate between different Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT studies.
- This is a travel assignment; local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible.
