Job Details
Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM, Friday through Sunday
Call Requirement: 90-120 hours of call over a 6-week schedule
Specialty: Surgical Services
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in Level 1 Trauma Center, with experience in vascular and thoracic surgery cases
Skillset Includes:
- Receiving pump lines from perfusion and preparing for cannulation
- Procedures such as Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Atherectomy, Atrial Septal Defect Repair, Cardiomyoplasty, Carotid Endarterectomy, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair, Femoral Popliteal Bypass Graft, Laparoscopic Cardiac Surgery, Mitral Valve Replacement, Pericardial Window, Robotic Assisted Cardiac Surgery, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR), Ventricular Assist Device (VAD), Heart & Lung Transplant, Valve Replacement, and Aortic Dissection.
First Time Travelers: Accepted if they have Level 1 Trauma experience
License Restriction: Effective 11/30/2024, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to start new contracts at this facility except for Perioperative/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (including Endoscopy, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS).
Required Certifications
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
Required Qualifications & Documents
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background Check within 90 days of start, including:
- 7 years of residence/work history
- SSN Trace, County Criminal, Statewide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level III
- Education Verification
- International search if lived/worked outside the US in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Official Transcript or Diploma (clear copy)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA only
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
- State License verification within 30 days of start (primary source verification)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (not required for Techs or RRTs)
- Color Blind Testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent)
- Unit Competency Exam
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement including HIPAA
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season
- Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months (including Amphetamines, Marijuana, Cocaine, Opiates, PCP)
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment within 2 years, with supervisory titles
- Current Employment Application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills Checklist within 12 months, updated annually
- Application must cover 7 years of history with all gaps accounted for
Additional Notes
- Candidates must provide 2-3 days of interview availability when submitting.
- On-site Fit Testing is available only as a last resort and not at certain campuses.
- PAPR (Powered Air Purifying Respirator) use requires prior facility approval except at certain campuses where it is automatically approved.
- Mandatory completion of facility-specific orientation modules and documentation may be required prior to start.
- This position involves working in a Level 1 Trauma Center with complex surgical cases.
Summary
This is a travel contract opportunity for a CVOR Tech with at least 2 years of experience in Level 1 Trauma Center surgical services, including vascular and thoracic surgery cases. The role requires weekend shifts with significant call responsibilities and multiple certifications and clearances. First-time travelers are accepted if they have Level 1 Trauma experience. Compliance with extensive health, background, and competency requirements is mandatory.
