Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (Pediatrics) - Travel/Contract

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Respiratory Therapist specializing in Pediatrics for a travel/contract position. The role requires flexibility including floating to different units as needed.


Required Qualifications

  • License: Ohio State Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license required.
  • Experience: Prefer close to 2 years of experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty.
  • References: Must provide 2 supervisory or professional references (charge nurses count as one reference). Peer references are not acceptable.
  • Floating: Required for most positions.

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – if applicable
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – if applicable
  • NBRC certification required for RRTs
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score required)
  • Competency Exam (passing score required)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked).
  • Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse or equivalent.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
  • Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting within 60 days of start, updated for each new contract.
  • Sex offender search and state-specific registry checks within 30 days of start.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start.
  • Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement signed prior to start.
  • Affiliating Health Record completed and verified.
  • Infection Control Policy review and signature prior to start.
  • Fit Mask (N95) testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually).
  • TB testing or chest x-ray per protocol; not required annually unless break in assignment or specialty change.
  • Immunizations:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no titer substitution).
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions require approval.
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B immunization or titer documentation as applicable.

Additional Notes

  • Candidate’s legal name must match all licenses and certifications exactly (no nicknames or aliases).
  • Ohio driver’s license holders must not reside within 60 miles of the facility to be considered travel.
  • Fingerprinting results may pend at start if facility completes onsite fingerprinting.
  • Candidates with positive TB results must complete additional questionnaires and follow facility protocols.
  • Fit testing documentation must be valid annually; candidates with beards have options for PAPR/CAPR.
  • Floating to different units is expected as part of the role.
