Job Description

• Work on an inpatient Innovation Design Unit focused on testing new care models, technology, and facility designs.
• Patient population: Adult medical-surgical patients (no labor & delivery or pediatrics).
• Primary nursing care model: 1 RN assigned to a group of patients.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Days: 1:4-5
  • Nights: 1:5-6
• Current innovations include virtual nursing, ambient monitoring, interactive patient experience platforms, real-time location systems, and various facility design variations.
• Drip management required on all floors.
• EPIC electronic charting experience required.
• Floating within scope to other units may be required.
• Facility is 100% nicotine-free.
• Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat).
• Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
• Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles away).
• Pending license accepted but must be in hand before start; otherwise, booking delayed by six weeks.
• Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs (facility branded).

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Medical-Surgical Telemetry
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience in a large, urban hospital.
• Prior Travel Experience: First-time travelers NOT accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.
• Licensure: Active RN license for Nebraska (pending license accepted with conditions).
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
• Skills:

  • Experience with drips on all floors
  • EPIC charting experience required

Additional Information

• Must submit government-issued photo ID.
• Background check required within 30 days of start, including federal enhanced search.
• Ongoing monthly SAM and OIG checks required.
• Education verification required.
• Various health and competency documents required, including physical exam, fit mask test, immunizations (MMR, Hep B, Varicella, Tdap), drug screening, and TB testing.
• Flu vaccine preferred but not mandatory.
• COVID vaccine preferred; exemptions accepted.
• Annual skills checklist required.
• References: 2 work references from the past 2 years.
• Parking available with permit or daily rates.
• Facility enforces strict dress code and safety protocols.
• Must be willing to float to other units as needed within scope of practice.

• Inpatient unit with 17 patient rooms divided into zones for testing innovative care and design.
• Patient care focuses on adult medical-surgical and progressive care levels.
• Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some LPNs.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios support manageable patient loads.
• Facility is a teaching hospital with a focus on cutting-edge research and education.
