Job Opportunity: Cardiovascular Interventional Technologist
Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (12 weeks)
Job Summary
Under physician supervision, operate fluoroscopic imaging equipment during cardiac and/or peripheral vascular procedures. Provide scrub assistance to Cardiologists throughout diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. Deliver appropriate patient care and recognize patient conditions essential for successful completion of procedures.
Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiological Technologists.
- CVI, RCIS, or RCES certification preferred.
- Licensed by the Ohio Department of Health to operate ionizing radiation equipment, in accordance with Ohio Revised Code.
- Registered/credentialed as Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (R) ARRT.
- BLS and ACLS certification required (ACLS must be completed within one year after orientation if not currently certified).
Experience
- Minimum 1 year Radiologic Technologist experience in Diagnostic Area, Special Procedures, or Cath/EP Lab preferred.
- Higher years of experience in specialty should be considered if indicated elsewhere.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to operate lab equipment, catheters, guide wires, etc.
- Clinical skills to assist physicians in invasive procedures.
- Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, EKG interpretation, aseptic technique, radiation safety, and pressure monitoring.
- Ability to enter procedural events and information into hemodynamic computer systems.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and staff.
- Ability to lift and position patients.
- Proficient in using computer systems and filing systems for patient records management.
- Ability to work independently within established procedures and exercise professional judgment.
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Ohio Department of Health license for modality.
- ARRT certification.
- BLS (AHA only).
- ACLS (AHA only; AHA RQI acceptable).
Additional Requirements
- Must provide 3 years prior work history including at least 2 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting and in a similar specialty area.
- Completion of unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists as required.
- Compliance with health and safety requirements including:
- Fit Test (N95 mask or equivalent).
- Health Statement confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
- Immunizations and titers: MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Influenza (seasonal), Tdap (recommended).
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA testing.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen.
- Criminal background checks and federal exclusion screenings.
- Social Security Card or equivalent documentation.
