Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technician

Location: Beachwood, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Work Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Occasional shifts: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM and potential 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM post-call if staffing needed
• Call shifts vary based on staff schedule:

  • Weeknight call: 3:30 PM – 7:00 AM next day
  • Weekend call: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Job Requirements

• Must be competent in all surgical service lines except cardiac surgery
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Required Certifications and Licenses

• BLS (American Heart Association) – mandatory
• Valid permanent professional license (no temporary licenses accepted)
• Proof of required vaccinations and health screenings (see below)

Required Health and Safety Credentials

• COVID-19 Vaccine (preferred, not required)
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – positive titers within last 15 years or booster protocol
• Fit Test for respirators – completed within 1 year prior to start
• Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination/positive titers
• Varicella – positive titers within last 15 years or booster protocol
• Tdap vaccination within last 10 years (no declinations accepted)
• Annual Negative PPD or 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) – within last 6 months
• Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Oct-Mar) or approved declination with mask-wearing
• Physical exam within 1 year prior to start confirming ability to work without restrictions
• Drug screen within 60 days prior to start (10-panel, no instant screens)

Background and Verification Requirements

• Ohio fingerprinting and criminal background checks depending on residency duration
• National criminal background check including sex offender registry within 6 months prior to start
• Social Security trace and employment verification within last 5 years
• Education verification (including equivalency for international education)
• Professional license and certification verification
• UHS-specific compliance training modules (annual renewal)
• Competency exams and skills checklist for relevant department (minimum 80% passing score)
• Core competencies training (HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission topics) completed within 1 year prior to start
