Ultrasound Technician

Overview

• Role: Ultrasound Technologist
• Location: Newton, Massachusetts
• Employment type: LTA
• Shift: 16:30 - 12:30
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Clinical focus

• Performs ultrasound studies of the abdomen, OB/GYN, pedi, basic vascular, and small parts
• May perform interventional procedures
• Based in a department with off-site clinics and rotates within the department, divisions, and off-site clinics as needed

Required qualifications

• Ultrasound Technologist experience within the last year
• Ultrasound Technologist (1 year of experience)
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ARDMS

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient identification, prepare the patient, and collect relevant history
• Review charts for clinical history, test results, and laboratory data
• Explain exams to patients and provide care within scope of license/training
• Use universal precautions and patient-status-specific safety techniques
• Operate equipment and report malfunctions or repair needs
• Complete paperwork, PACS, RIS, and reporting functions
• Prepare equipment, room, and supplies; stock the department as needed
• Stay current on imaging techniques, procedures, and equipment
• Participate in education programs and meet continuing education requirements
• Transport and transfer patients per departmental guidelines
• Use independent judgment and initiative under pressure
