Job Opportunity: RN Surgery - Operating Room (OR) Nurse
Location: Baltimore, Maryland

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience in an acute care setting required.
- Preferred specialty experience in Orthopedics, Vascular, Robotics, and Plastics.
- Scrub experience is a plus but not required.
- Schedule: 4 call shifts per 6-week period (2 weekdays and 2 independent weekend days/nights per 6 weeks).
- Must have at least one RN with Vascular experience and one RN with Orthopedic experience on the team.
Required Credentials & Onboarding Requirements
Licenses & Verification (Required for Submission)
- Current nursing license verified via Nursys within 30 days prior to start.
- License/certificate primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID (must not be expired and must match address on file).
Professional Credentials (Required for Submission)
- Updated resume/profile.
- At least two professional references prior to first assignment.
Onboarding Requirements (Required Before Start)
- Ascension Core Competencies: HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly.
- Ascension Onboarding Education Attestation (6 hours pre-hire training).
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite).
- Ascension Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules (for non-allied positions).
- Ascension Badge Photo: forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations.
Health & Immunization Requirements (Required Before Start)
- Ascension Color Vision test, updated every 3 years.
- MMR: documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Varicella: documented proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap: valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B: vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine: optional, but if declined during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), mask wearing required.
- Fit Test: required for all travelers, preferred before start, can be completed onsite (annual update required).
- TB Screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within specified timeframes; if positive, negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required.
- Health Statement: statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
Drug Screening & Background Checks (Required Before Start)
- 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days of assignment start; updated annually or if break in service > 90 days.
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
Additional Requirements
- Skills Checklist: clinical specialty checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually.
- Education Verification: must be completed within 90 days of start; official transcripts required if verification fails.
- Employment Verification: third-party verification for past 7 years; updated annually or if break in service > 90 days.
- Confirmation of Assignment: provided upon initial assignment and updated with extensions.
Summary
This is a 13-week long-term assignment for experienced OR RNs with acute care background, preferably with orthopedic and vascular specialties. The role requires compliance with extensive credentialing, health, immunization, and onboarding requirements specific to Ascension Health. The schedule includes call shifts every 6 weeks with a mix of weekdays and weekends.
Note: All credentials and verifications must be current and compliant with Ascension Health policies prior to assignment start.
