Job Opportunity: PCU/IMC Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Weston, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Intermediate Care (IMC)
• Number of Beds: 30
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, may stretch to 1:5 with sick call or added CNA support
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Cardiac issues, NSTEMI, post cath lab, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, GI bleed, detox, respiratory distress, sepsis
• Respiratory Therapy Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, Optiflow
• Telemetry: Tele/Monitor techs present who read strips; GE monitors used

Shift & Scheduling

• Shift Hours: 7 AM - 7 PM and 7 PM - 7 AM (12-hour shifts)
• Scheduling: No self-scheduling; agency nurses usually cover variable or straight night shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Call/Standby: Yes
• Floating: Required to float to Medical-Surgical or IMC overflow in ICU

Required Certifications & Skills

• Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), EKG Course
• Experience/Skills:

  • Management of IV nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone
  • Post cath lab experience beneficial
  • Arterial line experience appreciated but not required
• Drip Titration: RNs are required to titrate drips including nitro, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, amiodarone
• Charge Nurse Role: Charge RNs take 2 patients
• Nurse Aide Support: Yes, ratio approximately 1 aide per 10-12 patients depending on census

Orientation & Dress Code

• Orientation: Up to 3 days unit/department specific orientation
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

Required Qualifications

• License: Registered Nurse (RN) license for Wisconsin
• Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year of PCU/IMC nursing experience (based on specialty requirements and job description)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Additional Notes

• Clinicians who have previously worked at this facility must have a minimum 6-month gap since last employment
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility

This position is ideal for experienced PCU/IMC RNs comfortable with cardiac patient care, titrating drips, and working 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays.
