Job Opportunity: LTC/SNF Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Winnemucca, Nevada
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility & Unit Information

• Type of Facility: Skilled Nursing Facility (Nursing Home) attached to a critical-access hospital
• Beds/Residents: 34 beds, currently 22 residents (all semi-private rooms)
• EMR System: Cerner
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Days: 1 RN per 11 patients
  • Nights: 1 RN per 22-30 patients
  • CNA Ratios: Days 1:6, Nights 1:6 or 1:8

Required Certifications

• BLS Certification (required)

Experience & Skills

• Specialty Experience: Prefer experience with cognitive deficits and ability to interact and redirect patients with cognitive impairments without confrontation
• Leadership: Prefer candidates with leadership experience such as charge nurse duties
• IV Skills: Nurses pass medications and manage simple IVs and tubes; no titratable drips or ventilators/tracheostomies on site
• Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)

Job Duties

• Medication administration and simple IV management
• Wound care managed by PT; nurses assist as needed
• No ventilator or trach care required
• Floating to memory care unit if needed
• Participate in interdisciplinary team including PT/OT/SLP, DON, Resident Care Coordinator, MDS Coordinator, Dietician, NP, and Medical Director

Schedule & Shifts

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Staffing:

  • Days: 2 nurses and 4 CNAs
  • Nights: 1 nurse and 3-4 CNAs
• Scheduling: Modified self-scheduling; flexibility required to fill staffing gaps; no guaranteed block scheduling
• Weekend Requirement: Typically every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• Call/Standby: None

Additional Information

• Orientation: 1 shift with a preceptor on the unit
• Scrub Color: RNs wear navy blue; CNAs may wear any color
• Physician Availability: NP available Monday-Friday and on-call after hours; MD oversight available
• Respiratory Therapy: Nurses administer respiratory therapy and manage home CPAP/BiPAP; ER available 24/7
• Pharmacy: On-site pharmacy with on-call coverage at night; medication dispensing via Omnicell (no bubble packs)

This position is ideal for RNs with LTC/SNF experience who are comfortable working with cognitively impaired patients and prefer a supportive team environment with leadership opportunities.
