Behavioral Health RN Job Opportunity

Location: Ashland, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse for a 10-bed adult psych/detox unit. The unit treats patients with alcohol use disorder, polysubstance use, alcohol detox, depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: Typically 1:3, up to 1:5
• Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7 AM–7 PM and 7 PM–7 AM)
• Scheduling: No self or block scheduling; schedule set by director with some flexibility
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• No call, standby, or floating requirements
• Orientation: 2-3 days with a preceptor
• Dress Code: Option to wear street clothes or scrubs; clothing must be neat, clean, and appropriate (no tank tops, blue jeans, or open-toed shoes). Photo ID badges required on duty.

Patient Care & Unit Details

• Adult patient population only
• Use of physical restraints and IVs is rare
• Charge nurse coverage 24/7; unit accepts patients continuously
• Support staff includes nurse aides/mental health specialists during day shifts
• Respiratory therapy available if needed
• No telemetry on the unit

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• BLS certification
• Minimum 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience
• First-time travelers are welcome
