Cardiac Sonographer Position - Illinois

Job Overview

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for respiratory, cardiac, and vascular disorders under general supervision.
• Complete adult cardiac echocardiograms; pediatric scanning is a plus but not required.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop patient care plans.
• Educate patients and families about cardiopulmonary procedures.
• Work with diverse patient populations, including those with developmental, cultural, or medical complexities.
• Use various ultrasound imaging systems, doppler systems, EKG machines, Holter monitors, and stress testing equipment.
• Physical demands include pushing ultrasound machines and positioning transducers in awkward positions for extended periods.

Contract Details

• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days
• Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• Schedule: Variable

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer.
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer – Adult Echocardiography (RDCS-AE) certification via ARDMS or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Graduate of an approved Allied Health program with additional ultrasound training.
• Knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy, ultrasound physics, and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with vascular and cardiac diagnostic testing procedures.
• Knowledge of AIC accreditation preferred.

Reporting & Supervision

• Reports to the Leader of Cardiopulmonary.
• No supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment & Interactions

• Frequent interaction with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Responsible for coordinating with hospital staff for services and supplies.
