ICU Nurse Travel Opportunity - California

Location: Arroyo Grande, CA
Unit: ICU (8 beds)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Requirements

• Minimum 2 full years of ICU nursing experience
• Active California nursing license
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIH
• Travel nursing experience preferred

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1 to 1:2
• EMR system: Cerner
• Charge Nurse coverage on day shifts (no patient assignment)
• Night shift has a shift leader
• No nurse aides on the unit
• Tele/Monitor techs available (Phillips system), but nurses must read and interpret EKG strips
• Drips and ventilators used regularly
• Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
• Pharmacy on call after hours (not 24/7)
• Hospitalist or Intensivist on call after hours

Work Schedule & Orientation

• 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm or 7pm-7am)
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday shifts rotate with permanent staff
• Scrub color: navy
• Floating required to telemetry, Marian ICU, or ER (with orientation and patient assignment)
• Floor-specific orientation: 1 shift
• Nurses must complete a 15-minute proctored EKG competency exam during orientation

Patient Population

• Common diagnoses: sepsis, general medical ICU cases, respiratory failure, congestive heart failure (CHF), alcohol withdrawal

Additional Notes

• Must be comfortable with 7pm-7am shifts and floating every other week first
• Medical Solutions Clinical Team will pre-screen candidates; managers conduct second interviews
