Job Summary

The MRI Technologist is responsible for ensuring patient safety and performing high-quality MRI studies. The role includes effective communication with radiologists and customers, troubleshooting MRI equipment, and occasionally training new technologists or patient coordinators.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate MRI and related imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images, including advanced studies.
• Interview patients to explain MRI procedures and address concerns with tact and courtesy.
• Ensure patient safety through pre-screening for contraindications and aseptic injection techniques.
• Communicate effectively with radiologists and other customers.
• Train new technologists and patient coordinators; provide oversight and quality checks.
• Troubleshoot MRI scanners and peripheral equipment to prevent downtime; escalate complex issues as needed.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• ARRT (R) certification required; ARRT (MR) certification preferred.
• Venipuncture Certification required.
• BLS CPR Certification through the American Heart Association required.
• Valid state driver’s license and state license as applicable.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of MRI experience in high-volume environments preferred.
• Technical proficiency with GE 1.5T or other vendor MRI scanners.
• Ability to independently run advanced MRI studies.
• Strong patient care skills with ability to explain complex medical information clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage customer interactions effectively.
• Local travel may be required.

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Candidates should disclose if they require time off during the assignment.
• Experience with Siemens Avanta MRI systems is a plus but not mandatory.
