Job Summary

The MRI Technologist is responsible for patient safety and performing high-quality MR studies. This role includes effective communication with radiologists and other customers, and may involve training new technologists or Patient Coordinators. The technologist operates imaging equipment, interviews patients to explain MRI procedures, ensures patient safety including IV injections, and troubleshoots scanner and peripheral equipment to prevent downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate MRI imaging and related equipment to produce diagnostic images, including advanced studies.
• Interview patients to explain MRI procedures and address concerns with tact and courtesy.
• Ensure patient safety through pre-screening for contraindications and aseptic injection techniques.
• Communicate effectively with radiologists and other customers.
• Train new technologists and Patient Coordinators, providing guidance and quality checks.
• Troubleshoot MRI scanner and peripheral equipment to maintain smooth operations and minimize delays.
• Local travel may be required.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• ARRT (MR) certification required.
• BLS CPR Certification through the American Heart Association required.
• Minimum of 1 year of MRI experience in high-volume environments preferred.
• Must be able to perform IV injections.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage customer interactions effectively.
• Strong patient care skills with the ability to explain complex medical terms in an understandable way.
• Valid state driver’s license as applicable.
