Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Contract Clinician
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform quality diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures under supervision to ensure accurate and appropriate imaging information for diagnosis and treatment.
- Participate in teaching and research related to nuclear medicine.
- Utilize departmental resources to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic and therapeutic exams with minimal risk and cost to patients.
- Address age-specific needs of patients served.
- Work both in the department and mobile settings.
- Perform PET/CT attenuation correction (not diagnostic) if certified as a nuclear medicine technologist.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited nuclear medicine program.
- Current certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and/or The American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
- Knowledge of computers interfaced with gamma cameras.
- Knowledge of radioactive materials, doses, and flood sources.
- Experience with patient monitoring and ancillary patient and radiation safety equipment.
- Ability to safely work with radioactive material.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire or transfer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior clinical experience.
- Ability to effectively handle patients and families across all age groups.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of nuclear medicine gamma cameras, both stationary and portable, from various manufacturers.
Additional Notes
- No state licensure required for Nuclear Medicine Technologists in Nebraska; certification by a national organization (ARRT or NMTCB) is required.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Specialty years of experience are not specified; clinical experience is preferred but not mandatory.
