Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Location: Omaha, Nebraska

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Perform quality diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures under supervision to ensure accurate and appropriate imaging information for diagnosis and treatment.
• Participate in teaching and research related to nuclear medicine.
• Utilize departmental resources to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic and therapeutic exams with minimal risk and cost to patients.
• Address age-specific needs of patients served.
• Work both in the department and mobile settings.
• Perform PET/CT attenuation correction (not diagnostic) if certified as a nuclear medicine technologist.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nuclear medicine program.
• Current certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and/or The American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
• Knowledge of computers interfaced with gamma cameras.
• Knowledge of radioactive materials, doses, and flood sources.
• Experience with patient monitoring and ancillary patient and radiation safety equipment.
• Ability to safely work with radioactive material.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire or transfer.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior clinical experience.
• Ability to effectively handle patients and families across all age groups.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of nuclear medicine gamma cameras, both stationary and portable, from various manufacturers.

Additional Notes

• No state licensure required for Nuclear Medicine Technologists in Nebraska; certification by a national organization (ARRT or NMTCB) is required.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Specialty years of experience are not specified; clinical experience is preferred but not mandatory.
