Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Location

  • Springfield, Missouri

Employment Type

  • Travel contract
  • Assignment length: 13 weeks

Shift

  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Weekend hours as required by facility
  • Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires availability for the entire week

  • Unit: Medical 6B
  • Number of beds: 32
  • Patient types: Medical, medical telemetry, respiratory
  • Patient ratios vary (day: 1:5-1:6, night: 1:6-1:7), not guaranteed
  • Equipment used: Telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, tube feeding pumps
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in an inpatient setting
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required prior to start (may be submitted after application)
  • Experience and competence in drug titration
  • Valid Driver's License

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
  • Maintain professional accountability and patient confidentiality
  • Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other caregivers
  • Float on a rotational basis as needed
  • Care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and with medical comorbidities

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk most of the shift
  • Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
  • Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs.; pinch up to 15 lbs.
  • Occasional kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids
  • Flexible scheduling may be required based on patient care needs

Additional Information

  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1; declinations are not accepted
  • Dress code: black scrubs only; other attire is not acceptable
  • Guaranteed weekly hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
  • Requests for time off must follow facility guidelines; limited holiday time off allowed
  • Facility emphasizes safety, innovation, and patient satisfaction with recognized certifications in trauma and stroke care
