Job Description

Seeking a skilled bedside/skilled RN for a long-term care setting (nursing home). The role involves assisting physicians and providing direct patient care to ensure comfort and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet patients and prepare them for examinations or procedures.
• Record patient health history and note abnormal conditions for physicians.
• Instruct patients on sample collection and tests.
• Obtain vital signs and escort patients to rooms.
• Assist with preparation of supplies and aid physicians or mid-level practitioners during treatments and exams.
• Administer injections and prescribed medications as directed.
• Observe, record, and report patient conditions and reactions to treatments.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient chart entries and records.
• Schedule tests, treatments, and arrange referrals or preauthorizations as directed.
• Collect, document, and deliver lab specimens; obtain test results.
• Notify patients of test results and follow-up appointments.
• Clean and restock exam/treatment rooms between procedures.
• Follow infection control policies for handling and disposing of hazardous waste.
• Instruct patients and families on medications, treatments, and discharge instructions.
• Assist providers with physical exams and preparation for physicals.
• Contact pharmacies to order prescriptions and notify patients.
• Maintain accurate inventory of medications and monitor controlled substances.
• Control inventory and monitor use of supplies and medical equipment.
• Respond to and screen telephone calls; triage patients to ensure efficient workflow.
• Perform limited X-ray procedures if certified or currently enrolled in an approved radiological education course.
• Adhere to the facility’s Code of Conduct and Mission and Value Statement.

Requirements

• Current Tennessee RN license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Minimum of 1 year of long-term care experience
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
