Travel RN Opportunity – Fort Worth, Texas

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR) with strong Neurosurgery experience
  • Location: Fort Worth, TX
  • Employment Type: Travel contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM, varied shifts including weekend coverage
  • Call Requirements: One weekday call per week and one 24-hour weekend call per month (Friday 3 PM to Monday 7 AM)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit Information

  • Unit: Surgery (Unit 701)
  • Patient Population: 85% spine surgeries, 15% brain surgeries; includes cardiovascular OR (CVOR) and transplant cases
  • Number of Beds: 17
  • Trauma Level: Not a leveled trauma center
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1 nurse to patient ratio in OR
  • Staffing: 1-2 surgical techs per case
  • Equipment: DaVinci XI, Globus, Mako robotic systems, microscopes, and standard OR equipment
  • Documentation System: Meditech

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of OR experience in an acute care hospital setting (not surgery center)
  • Neurosurgery experience required
  • Current, active Texas RN license (temporary licenses not accepted)
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications required
  • Must have hospital/specialty experience of 2+ years
  • Friendly and compassionate patient care approach

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with robotic surgery
  • Familiarity with Meditech documentation system

Procedures Performed on Unit

  • High volume of general surgery, neurosurgery (including craniotomies), orthopedic, robotic-assisted surgeries, some urology and plastic surgeries
  • Heart and transplant surgeries

Additional Unit Policies & Guidelines

  • Dress Code: Facility provides scrubs; clean and healthy nails (no gel or artificial nails, nails no longer than ¼” beyond fingertips)
  • Hair: Neat, clean, no extreme styles or colors
  • Facial Hair: Beards, mustaches, and sideburns must be clean and neatly trimmed
  • Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible; uncovered tattoos addressed individually
  • Piercings: Only ear piercings allowed; other visible piercings prohibited
  • Floating Policy: Floating as needed within the unit or hospital
  • Attendance: Strict attendance policies in place
