Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week (overtime after 48 hours)
Weekend/Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend and every other holiday

Unit and Patient Population

8-bed Neuro ICU unit
Patient types include Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Head Injury, Neurosurgery, and Neuro Interventional patients
Float between Neuro Critical Care ICU and MSICU units; possible float to other critical care and inpatient units as needed

Required Qualifications

Wisconsin RN License
BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC)
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with strong Neuro ICU or Med/Surg ICU background
Prior travel assignment preferred (at least 1)
EPIC charting experience required
Experience with Neuro assessments and ICU bedside procedures (e.g., line placement, intubation)
Familiarity with EVDs (External Ventricular Drains) and ICP (Intracranial Pressure) monitoring required
Experience with Neuro Interventional procedures is a plus

Additional Information

No on-call or call-back requirements
Eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours, which can be taken in increments as needed
Must be able to manage independently, work resiliently, and adapt to change
Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)
Contractors must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
Flu season policy: Travelers declining flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times per facility policy; non-compliance may result in corrective action
