Registered Nurse — Neuro ICU

Location

Wausau, Wisconsin

Job Type

Travel assignment

Contract

13 weeks
Start: ASAP
Guaranteed hours: 36 per week

Schedule

12-hour day shifts: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
Every other weekend
Every other holiday

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Wisconsin
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Neuro ICU (2 years of experience)
Neuro ICU experience within the last year
BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
NIHSS
Med Surg experience
Familiarity with EVDs (external ventricular drains) and ICP (intracranial pressure) monitoring
Experience with Epic

Clinical Experience / Skills

Experience with Neuro ICU patients
Familiarity with EVDs and ICP monitoring
Able to perform basic bedside ICU procedures
Experience with neuro assessments
Experience with stroke, TBI, head injury, and neurosurgery patients

Work Setting / Responsibilities

May float between Neuro Critical Care ICU and MSICU
May also float to other critical care units and other inpatient units as needed
Main procedures include line placement and intubation
Neuro-specific procedures include bolt and drain bedside placements with Neurosurgery
May care for neuro interventional patients

Additional Notes

EPIC charting experience required
1 prior travel assignment is preferred
No on-call or call-back
Low census may reduce hours in 4-hour increments
Flu/COVID vaccine declination requires masking at all times during flu season
