Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Location: Iron River, Michigan

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide emergency room nursing care including assessments and general nursing skills.
• Patient population includes geriatric patients (CHF, COPD), diabetic ketoacidosis, trauma, stroke, cardio-respiratory emergencies, COVID-19, pediatric, and other general medical cases.
• May have Charge RN shifts.
• Float to ICU (2-bed unit, staffed as needed) and Med/Surg (25-bed unit with 4-5 COVID rooms).

Work Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Guaranteed 72 hours biweekly; overtime after 80 hours in the second week
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation
• May be placed on call during low census with a 2-hour callback minimum

Unit Information

• 9-bed Emergency Department with 2 negative pressure rooms and 2 trauma bays
• Staffing: 2 RNs on day shift until 11 PM, 1 RN on nights with charge nurse assistance
• Scrub colors: Any color allowed

Required Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC
• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Room nursing experience; 5 years strongly preferred

Additional Requirements and Policies

• Must be located at least 50 miles outside the facility (radius rule)
• During flu season, flu and COVID vaccination is strongly encouraged; unvaccinated travelers must wear masks at all times per facility policy
• Contract includes eligibility for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours during the assignment

Notes

• This position requires flexibility to float between ED, ICU, and Med/Surg units as needed.
• The ICU unit is not always staffed and only open when patients are present.
• The role involves care for a diverse patient population including critical and trauma cases.
