Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Neuro ICU

Overview

• Start Dates: 4/21 or 5/5 (Bi-weekly orientation)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Shift Details

• Shift Requirement: 12-hour Nights (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Three weekends out of every six weeks; every other holiday.
• Float Requirement: First to float within skillset to Deaconess Midtown (8 miles away) and potentially to Deaconess Henderson (KY - 11 miles away).

Patient Population

• General ICU, post-stroke, CRRT, sepsis, DKA, post-code, respiratory distress.
• Neuro procedures including drains, biopsies, and ventriculostomy.

Required Qualifications

• Licensure: Current active compact license.
• Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS.
• Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years as an RN.
  • 1 full year of ICU experience.
  • 1 travel assignment.
  • Trauma level II experience.
• Charting Experience: Recent EPIC experience required.

Skillset

• Required Skills:

  • NIHSS/dysphagia screen/strong neuro assessment skills.
  • Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation (must pass tele tests).
  • ETT/vent management (RT available).
  • Initiate/titrate sedatives, paralytics, cardiac drips, vasoactive medications.
  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Preferred Skills:

  • CRRT, tPa administration/assessments, massive transfusion (Belmont).

Unit Information

• Unit Size: 32 beds
• Patient Ratio: Days 1:2; Nights 1:2; Charge Nurse typically takes 1:1 assignment.
• Team Environment: Seasoned permanent staff with excellent teamwork; supportive management.

Additional Information

• Scrub Colors: Navy blue scrubs (no competing health systems or agency logos).
• Teaching Hospital: May require precepting of students and new hires.
• Covid-19 Vaccine: Not required (subject to change).
• Attendance Policy: 3 call-ins can result in termination.
