Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Stepdown (Travel)

Location: Evansville, Indiana

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Population

• Unit: Cardiac Renal Unit Stepdown, 32 beds
• Patient acuity: High acuity Telemetry/Medical-Surgical, Cardiac heavy
• Common conditions: Atrial fibrillation with RVR, atrial flutter, heart blocks, heart catheterization (without interventions), CHF, COPD, sepsis, behavioral health/CIWA, post ablations, dialysis

Shift & Schedule

• Shift: 12-hour nights (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Weekend/Holiday: Three weekends every six weeks; every other holiday
• Float: Required to float first within skillset to nearby campuses (8-11 miles away) with 2-hour notice
• On Call/Call Back: Not required

Experience & Requirements

• Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years strong Cardiac/Telemetry experience
• Prior Travel Experience: Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent EPIC charting experience required (checkoff class required)
• Must pass Telemetry tests (12-lead EKG interpretation)

Certifications

• Current active compact nursing license
• AHA BLS
• AHA ACLS
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Skills & Responsibilities

• Telemetry and 12-lead EKG interpretation
• Initiate and titrate drips (antiarrhythmics, Heparin, etc.)
• Peripheral IV insertion
• Chest tube and indwelling drain management
• Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• Management of stable drips (heparin, lasix, protonix)
• Antidysrhythmic medication dosing (cardizem, tikosyn, amiodarone)
• Nephrostomy tube care
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills required
• Ability to manage change, resilience, and teamwork emphasized

Additional Information

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: Days 1:4-5; Nights 1:5-7
• May be required to precept students and new hires (teaching hospital)
• No competing health system or agency logos on scrubs allowed
• Strict attendance policy: 3 call-ins may result in termination
• COVID-19 vaccine not currently required (subject to change)
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week (48 hours accepted upon request)
• Overtime applies after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts
