Occupational Therapist Assistant

Location: Fairfield, California
Employment Type: Clinical Allied Travel
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: Days, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (40 hours/week)
Work Schedule: Includes rotation of weekend and holiday coverage during department operating hours

Job Description

• Provide occupational therapy services under the supervision of a certified occupational therapist in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Administer treatment modalities and procedures tailored to patient age and learning needs.
• Assist with treatment planning and discharge preparation.
• Prepare and maintain accurate patient records according to departmental policies.
• Educate patients and their families/caregivers on therapy procedures, home programs, and use of assistive/adaptive equipment.
• Communicate patient progress and program changes with rehabilitation team members, physicians, and third-party payers.
• Participate in inter/intradepartmental meetings and inservices.
• Assist with orientation and supervision of other healthcare professionals, students, and volunteers.
• Maintain clean, safe, and orderly treatment areas and equipment; report safety concerns.
• Assist with ordering, cleaning, and stocking equipment and supplies.
• Engage in professional growth through educational programs, workshops, and inservices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Minimum Associate of Science degree from an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program.

Licensure/Certification

• Current California Occupational Therapy Assistant license required. Applicants with Occupational Therapy Assistant License application in process may be considered.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or equivalent).
• Compliance with all other annual departmental and system requirements (e.g., TB screening, safety training).

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience preferred in acute hospital or outpatient clinic settings.
• New graduates will be considered.

Skills and Competencies

• Proficient clinical skills in occupational therapy treatment for a wide range of physical disabilities.
• Ability to provide care for patients across all age groups: pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations governing occupational therapy practice.
• Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating caring, communication, collaboration, and competence.
• Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Adherence to attendance and punctuality standards.
