Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an acute care setting
- Must complete and maintain all regulatory requirements including licensing, certification, TB testing, safety, compliance, and HIPAA training within established time frames
Key Responsibilities
Practices and Policies
- Consistently comply with healthcare practices, policies, and procedures including attendance, patient safety, and reducing unsafe practices
- Abide by ethical standards
Equipment Management
- Use all equipment and tools according to manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures
- Perform and validate preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment/tools
- Report and document equipment issues and failures
- Manage inventory expiration dates and evaluate consumables to prevent shortages
- Remove defective equipment from use and ensure safety inspections are up-to-date
Quality Assurance
- Coordinate and complete processes to meet quality testing standards
- Complete daily tasks within expected timeframes to meet QA goals
- Identify errors and follow through with investigation, correction, documentation, and notification
- Communicate clearly using Closed Loop and SBAR tools
- Notify caregivers proactively if delays may affect turnaround times
Specimen Collection Process
- Complete specimen collection without error using written policies and procedures
- Perform new procedures within acceptable training intervals and meet turnaround time goals
- Document activities and results thoroughly and legibly, minimizing errors
- Perform patient reception, sample collection, processing, and assist with analytical procedures
- Evaluate work for accuracy and seek supervisory guidance as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Patient/Customer Satisfaction
- Maintain patient satisfaction standards for direct patient contact roles, measured by specific scores or manager discretion
