PCU RN Position - Albuquerque, New Mexico
Job Summary
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process to an assigned group of patients during a shift.
- Ensure safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care.
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document individual patient needs and responses.
- Coordinate patient care through collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and document accordingly.
- Identify and meet patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout care.
- Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel clinically.
- Work in a low turnover, medically complex patient population awaiting community placement.
- Patient population is Med/Surg level without direct ICU escalation; strong assessment skills required to recognize patient deterioration or de-escalation.
- Charge nurse experience preferred but not required.
- Floating between departments or locations within 20 miles is required.
- Weekends and on-call/call-back as needed.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years current experience in an 18+ bed telemetry/progressive care unit.
- Must be a team player, flexible, and accustomed to a fast-paced environment.
- Must have successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with Epic EMR.
Education Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required.
Certifications & Licensure
- Current State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross).
- Must pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia/Dysrhythmia Assessment (BCA) exam prior to or during the first week of assignment; failure to pass results in dismissal.
- NIHSS certification preferred.
Note: This position requires passing an onsite Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia test with one opportunity to retest if failed.
