Job Opportunity: Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health (Nights)

Location: Brattleboro, Vermont
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Work on an LGBTQ+ unit specializing in co-occurring disorders inpatient treatment.
  • Provide 24-hour care focused on medically assisted drug and alcohol withdrawal, stabilization, and psychiatric support (e.g., Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders).
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess and meet individual and group patient needs.
  • Provide clinical supervision of Mental Health Workers (MHWs) to ensure safe and therapeutic care delivery.
  • Must be comfortable and highly experienced in behavioral health nursing.
  • Willingness to float to other units and take charge shifts is required.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years as an RN, with recent inpatient psychiatric experience within the last 3 months (Long-term care experience not accepted).
  • Psych/Behavioral Health Experience: Must be clearly listed on resume, including all age groups worked with.
  • Licensure: Active Vermont or Compact RN license required.
  • Certifications: American Heart Association BLS certification required.
  • References: Two supervisory references from the last 2 years of employment required.
  • Additional Documentation: Psych skills checklist from within the last year required.
  • Travel Experience: First-time travelers will be considered; prior travel experience is not required.
  • Other: Must be able to start on 2/2 with no exceptions.

Work Conditions & Notes

  • RTO (Request Time Off) blackout dates: 2/23-2/27, 3/16-3/20, 4/27-5/8.
  • RTO cannot exceed 7 days during the contract.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training is offered onsite; confirm availability at submission.
  • Orientation: 0 hours nonbillable if CPI Blue Card is active; otherwise, 8 hours nonbillable orientation required.
  • Holiday and call-back shifts paid at 1.25x rate; minimum 2 hours applies to call-back.
  • The facility is located in a rural area with limited housing and public transportation options—candidates should plan accordingly.
  • Candidates living within 35 miles of the facility will have a rate adjustment (not relevant here but indicates local acceptance).

  • Focus on recovery, sobriety maintenance, and psychiatric stabilization.
