Cath Lab Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: McHenry, Illinois
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Hours per Week: 40

Job Description

On Call: Required one day a week and every 4 weekends
Meal Break: 30 minutes
Weekend work: Not required

Required Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, including experience within the last year
American Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification
Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety (IDNS) certification
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification

Preferred Qualifications

Interventional Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification
Minimum 1 year hospital experience in Medical Imaging

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Current and valid Driver’s License or Government Photo ID with address preferred
Proof of name change if legal name differs from compliance documents (e.g., marriage license, divorce decree)
7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, aliases, county, national, federal, sex offender, and OIG/SAM/FACIS checks
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
Education verification of highest degree (minimum Associate’s or Bachelor’s)
Transcript/Diploma matching the degree verified (if education verification pending)
Primary source verification of Radiology Tech license within 30 days of start
Competency exam passing score required
Color blindness test required (score must be above 70%)

Certifications Required

BLS (AHA or RQI accepted)
ACLS (AHA or RQI accepted)
Radiology Tech National Certification verification (ARRT and Illinois Emergency Management Agency) within 30 days of start

Health & Safety Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and no physical limitations
Fit mask test (3M Aura 1870+) within 12 months of start and annually; must include “+” sign
Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol (annual updates required for clinical roles)
Required vaccinations or proof of immunity (or approved medical/religious accommodation):
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (completed series or positive titer; declinations accepted with signed form)
- Varicella
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- COVID-19 initial vaccine series or declination form
Drug screening: 10-panel within 30 days of start; no instant or dilute tests accepted
OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required if fit test failed

Additional Requirements

Employment history covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
Annual skills checklist (not required for non-clinical roles)
Completion of facility-specific training modules prior to or shortly after start
Review and acknowledgment of facility privacy, confidentiality, sexual harassment, and information security policies
Completion of facility-specific consent and accommodation request forms as applicable

State-Specific Requirements (Illinois)

Fingerprinting to become eligible on the Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry prior to start (must be done in Illinois; out-of-state fingerprints not accepted)
Registry verification required prior to every contract (new and extension)

This position requires a licensed Radiology Technologist with specific certifications and compliance with extensive health, safety, and background screening protocols. Prior hospital experience in medical imaging and cardiovascular interventional certifications are preferred. The role includes on-call duties and a day shift schedule with 4 ten-hour days per week.
