Registered Nurse – Cardiac Telemetry

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Work Environment

• Heart & Vascular Unit (49-bed specialty medical/surgical unit) focused on cardiovascular patient care.
• Patient population includes stable heart and lung transplant patients and those with Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs).
• Fast-paced environment offering professional growth in cardiovascular nursing.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights (rare).
• Drip management required on all floors.
• EPIC electronic charting system experience required.
• Floating required frequently to various units within the hospital system, including neuro, trauma, observation, and other specialty units.
• 100% nicotine-free facility.
• Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat).
• Holiday work requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.

Schedule

• Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per 2-week period (4x12 hour shifts).
• Shift hours: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM.
• Option for 36 or 48-hour work weeks.
• Up to two weeks of Return to Origin (RTO) permitted with prior approval.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska.
• Minimum of 1 year telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience with EPIC electronic charting system.
• Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

• NIH Stroke Certification.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background check within 30 days of start, including multi-county and nationwide checks.
• Ongoing monthly SAM and OIG checks.
• Education verification and primary source license verification required.
• Annual physical exam and fit mask test (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+).
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap within last 10 years.
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray with TB questionnaire if history positive.
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (measles, mumps, rubella).
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination.
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer.
  • Annual drug screen within 60 days of start.
  • Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required).
  • COVID vaccine preferred; exemptions accepted.
• Annual skills checklist required.
• Two professional references from the last 2 years.
• State-specific registry checks (Nebraska DHHS Adult and Child Services Registry).
