NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Oakland, California
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (NICU)
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Contract Length: 14 weeks
- Location: Oakland, California
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Floating: Must be willing and able to float to other units and facilities as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience
- NICU experience within the last year
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Pediatric experience
Certifications & Training Notes
- ACLS certification is not required for NICU, PICU, or Pediatric units
- Pass/Fail Telemetry exam required for nurses working in critical care and telemetry units
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) may be required for other units but not specified for this role
- COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required as of current guidelines
- Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season if onsite more than 10 days
Additional Compliance & Facility Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific learning modules prior to or on Day 1 of orientation
- Annual TB questionnaire required within 30 days of start
- Cyber Security Awareness Training and HIPAA Healthcare Provider Module with passing quiz scores required
- Emergency contact information must be provided
- Parking and uniform policies must be reviewed and acknowledged prior to start
- Various exemption forms available for COVID-19 vaccination (medical, religious, seasonal declination) with advance notice required
Important Notes
- Candidates must be prepared for a pass/fail telemetry exam on the first day of orientation with up to 3 attempts allowed
- Fit testing for masks can be completed onsite only as a last resort; otherwise, documentation must be provided prior to start
- Background checks and license verifications must be current within 30 days of start date
- Candidates with positive TB or PPD allergy must provide additional documentation per facility protocol
This position offers a night shift NICU nursing opportunity requiring strong neonatal and pediatric critical care experience, with comprehensive credentialing and compliance standards to meet facility and regulatory requirements.
