NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position - Ohio, Columbus

• Position: NICU Registered Nurse
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Location: Columbus, Ohio
• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Must float to multiple units including PICU, CV PICU, Stepdown, Medical-Surgical, and rarely Emergency Department.
• Will also float to Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD) NICU, which involves frequent tracheostomy care and significant parent involvement.
• Float to other campuses as needed.
• Assignments will be appropriate to the nurse’s skills and float expectations.
• Two-part interview process: initial screening with Float Pool Leader, followed by potential interview with NICU unit manager.

Required Qualifications

• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years total Level III/IV NICU experience.
  • At least 1 year of Level IV NICU experience specifically.
• Licenses & Certifications:

  • Current Ohio RN license (State or Compact).
  • BLS (American Heart Association only).
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program, AHA/AAP certification only).
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support, AHA only).
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support, AHA only).
• References:

  • Two professional references required at time of submission.
  • At least one reference must be a manager or supervisor.
  • Charge RN reference acceptable as one manager reference.
  • Peer references are not accepted.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID matching legal name on RN license and certifications required within 24-48 hours of contract signing. Temporary IDs or paper licenses are not acceptable.
• Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year county search and education verification through National Student Clearinghouse.
• Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting required within 60 days of start; must be completed within 24-48 hours of signing contract.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Education verification required; official transcript if in-house verification incomplete.
• State-specific searches including Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry, Medicaid Exemption, and Abuse Registry required within 30 days of start.
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start, including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, marijuana, fentanyl, and others.
• Skills checklist specific to unit required and must be updated annually.
• Employment application and resume required.

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (no annual renewal required).
• TB testing options: Two PPDs or IGRA (QGOLD/TSPOT) within 12 months; additional requirements if positive.
• Annual N95 fit testing required; acceptable masks specified. Onsite testing allowed if prior testing not completed.
• Immunizations/vaccines required:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no titer substitution).
  • Flu vaccine required annually (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted with facility approval.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Positive titer or two vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal. Religious exemptions not accepted.
  • Varicella: Positive titer or two vaccines required; boosters required if titer negative or equivocal.
  • Hepatitis B: Declination, completed 3-dose vaccine series, or positive titer required.
• Facility-specific infection control policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
• Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
