Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 - 7:15), 36 hours per week
Unit: 24-bed Med/Surg/Telemetry overflow unit
Job Description
- Telemetry skills required; nurse must be able to correctly treat dysrhythmias.
- Telemetry monitoring is done by a tech on another unit.
- Target nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5, occasionally 1:6 with CNA support (1:12 ratio).
- Float requirement to sister units.
- Weekend work every other weekend.
- Unit uses Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication.
- Orientation: 36 hours on unit plus hospital orientation week one with daily classes.
- Scrubs color: Navy Blue.
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start.
- No return-to-office (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation.
- Locals accepted; no first-time travelers allowed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Orientation & Training Requirements
- Hospital and unit orientation mandatory.
- Medication Safety training with certificate of completion required.
- Annual compliance and facility-specific education modules required.
- Non-Novant Health Worker Orientation checklist required for North Carolina travel candidates.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training if applicable (usually for ER/BH nurses).
- Competency exams as applicable (medication, pharmacology, color blindness).
Additional Notes
- Candidate photo (passport style, white background, business attire) required immediately after signing contract for badge creation.
- Confidentiality agreement, hospital policies acknowledgment, and other facility-specific documents must be signed prior to start.
- Corp ID and I-Learn account setup required within 72 hours of contract signing; proof of login must be provided to avoid start delays.
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years required for travel acute care RNs.
- Performance evaluation required if worked with the agency over 1 year.
- Employment application must be uploaded.
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with telemetry skills who are comfortable working night shifts in a med/surg telemetry overflow unit and can meet strict orientation and compliance requirements.
