Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - RRT

Location: Providence, Rhode Island
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Rotating Nights/Days (3 shifts of 12 hours nights and 3 shifts of 12 hours days)
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Patient Age Group: Adults (preferred experience with Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents)
• Patient Diagnoses: COPD, Asthma, Critical Care, Emergency Care
• Special Equipment: Ventilators (Servo I required)
• Electronic Documentation: Meditech preferred

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist)
• Rhode Island State License
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required for ER and RRT candidates
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as applicable
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as applicable

Experience Requirements

• Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (Unit accepts first-time travelers)

• Aerosol Set Up (Mask, Trach, Medihaler, Metered Dose Inhaler, Handheld Nebulizer, T-Piece Nebulizer, Trach Collar Nebulizer)
• HFNC (High Flow Nasal Cannula)
• BiPAP and CPAP
• Troubleshooting High Pressure Alarms
• Weaning from Mechanical Ventilation

Dress Code

• Scrubs of any color

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
• Hepatitis B vaccination/titer/declination
• Varicella vaccination or positive titer
• 9 Panel Drug Screen after position acceptance
• Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• Respiratory Safety Clearance required annually

Background and Documentation Requirements

• Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• Emergency Contact Form prior to start
• Background Check including SSN Trace, County Searches, Nationwide Sex Offender check (within 1 year)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start and annually
• HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start and annually
• Fingerprinting required for Rhode Island (NCIC/BCI) for RRTs, new prints required for each assignment
• Confidentiality Agreement, Technology Access Agreement, Orientation Compass Test Packet, and other facility-specific onboarding documents required prior to start

References and Competencies

• 2 Professional References required (travel, allied, per diem acute care) within 3 years of start
• Annual Skills Checklist required
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable (minimum 80% passing score)
• Color Blind Testing required for lab candidates (100% passing score)

This position is suitable for respiratory therapists with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable with rotating shifts and working in critical care and emergency settings. Prior travel experience is not required, making it a good opportunity for first-time travel therapists.
