Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (RRT)
Location: Auburn, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Experience
- Minimum 2+ recent years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Certifications & Licenses
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Must be AHA certified
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Must be AHA certified
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Preferred but not required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure): Required for OB, not typically for RRT
- Tech Cert Verification: National certification required prior to start and upon expiration (e.g., NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist)
- State License: NYS Respiratory Therapy license verification required prior to start and upon expiration
- NURSYS Verification: Required prior to start (as applicable)
Required Training & Competencies
- Stroke education: 8 hours annually (NIH Stroke Scale training may count)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Competency Exam relevant to profession/specialty
- Pass/Fail Telemetry Testing: If telemetry interpretation is required, must pass an 80% minimum score on a cardiac rhythm assessment on the first day of orientation
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
Background & Health Requirements
- Background Check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start
- Physical Exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by a licensed provider confirming ability to perform job duties
- Fit Mask Test within 12 months, updated annually (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year or as specified)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity (2 MMR vaccines or serologic titers)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Varicella immunity (2 vaccines, positive titer, or documented history)
- Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine records or declination
- Drug Testing: 9 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start (not required annually)
Documentation & Compliance
- Driver’s License or State ID (unexpired government-issued photo ID)
- Professional References: 2 within last 3 years
- Skills Checklist: Required
- Facility-specific documents to review and sign, including:
- Code of Conduct
- Patient Abuse Reporting
- Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement
- Orientation Packet Acknowledgement
- Automated Dispensing Cabinet Security (for Pyxis access)
- Annual Tuberculosis Screening Questionnaire
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Nurses are responsible for independently measuring and interpreting telemetry strips if assigned to telemetry patients, as the facility does not employ telemetry technicians.
