Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Newnan, Georgia

Unit Details

• Patient Diagnoses: Stroke, COPD, AKI, Chest Pain, Diabetes, COVID, Pneumonia, General Medical-Surgical
• Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
• Call: None
• Floating: Within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Minimum Experience: 1 year (first-time travelers accepted)

Work & Holiday Expectations

• Orientation: Maximum 7 days
• Holidays:

  • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
  • If 2 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work both
  • If 3 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work 2 of them
• Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Compliance & Orientation

• Full compliance required to start on time
• Non-compliance results in a 2-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
• Orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8 weeks)

Required Credentials & Certifications

• Licenses:

  • State License verification within 30 days prior to start (Georgia license required)
  • Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for many specialties including ER, Critical Care, Cardiac Telemetry, Labor & Delivery, etc.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required except for some tech roles
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required for PACU, ER, and other pediatric-accepting areas
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required as per specialty
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Online course required within a few months of hire (no renewal required)
  • NIH Stroke Certification – May be required depending on specialty
  • Tech Cert Verification (if applicable)
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs and LVNs by Aya)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry, ICU, ER, etc.) – 3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation
  • General Competency Exam (required by Aya for Nursing and Allied)

Background & Health Requirements

• Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days of start, including education verification
• Physical Exam: Required by Aya within 1 year of start
• Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions
• TB Testing: Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
• Immunizations/Vaccinations:

  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer required
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required
  • Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required
  • Flu Vaccine or Declination required annually (strongly encouraged during flu season)

Additional Requirements

• References: 2 clinical references required by Aya
• Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually within 12 months
• Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process
• Facility Policies: Candidates must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start

• Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length
