Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry)

Location: Brownwood, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Preferred Start Date: January 5 (strongly preferred)
Distance Consideration: Candidates at least 50 miles from the facility may be considered on a case-by-case basis.


Job Description

  • Registered Nurse for Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit.
  • Telemetry RN role with specific pass/fail testing requirements.

Required Credentials & Certifications

  • State Nursing License: Must be verified within 30 days of start.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted (as applicable).
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required as applicable.
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy Certification): Required as applicable.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required as applicable.
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Required as applicable.
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course): Required as applicable.
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required as applicable with annual updates.
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for Telemetry RNs; two attempts allowed.
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable.
  • Color Blind Testing: Required (online Ishihara test accepted).
  • NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days of start.
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required and updated annually.
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Required for Telemetry RNs.

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background Check: 7-year check required within 1 year of start; must be updated annually.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG Checks: Required within 30 days of start.
  • Education Verification: Highest level required; transcript or diploma acceptable.
  • State-Specific Checks (Texas):
    • Texas DADS Employability Status Check within 30 days of start.
    • Texas Employee Misconduct Registry Check within 30 days of start.
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed. Facility conducts additional drug screen on arrival including marijuana; positive results lead to cancellation.
  • References: Two references required within 3 years of start.
  • Employment Application/Resume: Required.
  • Skills Checklist: Required and updated annually.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • Fit Mask Test: Annual fit test required; mask type must be 3M 1860 Regular or 1860S.
  • Vaccinations & Titers:
    • TB (Negative TB test or chest X-ray, or negative Qgold/Tspot within 1 year). Annual TB questionnaire required.
    • Rubeola (Measles): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; MMR booster if negative/equivocal.
    • Mumps: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; MMR booster if negative/equivocal.
    • Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; MMR booster if negative/equivocal.
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series of 3, or declination accepted; booster or declination post titer if low/equivocal.
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if negative/equivocal.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Required within 10 years of start.
    • Flu Seasonal Vaccination or exemption required for 2025-26 season.
  • Drug Testing: Must have plan for completion within 72 hours of contract signing.

  • Orientation includes mandatory modules (~3-4 hours) and parking is provided at no cost.

  • Some certifications and background checks require annual renewal or updates.
