Job Opportunity: NICU Registered Nurse
Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a Level 3 or 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Must have at least 2 years of experience in Level 3 or 4 NICU
- Must have previous experience with Epic charting system
- Work 36 hours per week
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
Required Qualifications
- Current Massachusetts RN license preferred; if not currently held, nurse must apply for the license within 24 hours of accepted offer
- At least 2 years of NICU experience (Level 3 or 4)
- NRP certification (Advanced NRP - AHA/AAP)
- Previous Epic electronic health record experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications (AHA only) are typically required for NICU roles
- Must pass medication and telemetry competency exams with a minimum score of 80% on the first day of orientation
- Valid driver’s license or state ID required
- Background checks including 7-year criminal background, education verification, and state-specific clearances required
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions
- Required immunizations or valid declinations for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for NICU)
- TB testing (2 PPDs or equivalent) and TB questionnaire
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (vaccines, titers, or declinations; declinations not accepted for NICU)
- Hepatitis B (3-dose series, reactive titer, or declination)
- Varicella (vaccines, titer, history, or declination)
- Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination (most recent) or facility-specific declination
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering 7 years of work history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist completed prior to start and updated annually
- Compliance with state-specific nurse aide registry search (not required for subcontractors)
- Drug testing within 30 days of start date (specific drug panels required)
