Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Job Requirements & Skills

Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) and IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – ER only
Airway management
Management of ventilated patients
Arterial line management (preferred for ER)
Management of dysrhythmias
Central line management
Management of IV drips
Isolation precautions
Triage skills (ER/ER Holding only)
Computerized documentation
Nurse to patient ratios 1:1 to 1:2+
NIH Stroke Certification
Interpretation of ABGs (Arterial Blood Gases)
Interpretation of dysrhythmias
Continuous IV sedation
Titration of IV vasopressors
Minimum 1.5 years of recent experience
Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure

Certifications Required

BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only (ER only)
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – AAP only (if applicable)
EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) (if applicable)
State Nursing License – Primary source verification required
NURSYS Verification (for RNs)
NIH Stroke Certification (must be current within 1 year unless otherwise stated)
CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – as required by specialty

Background & Verification Requirements

7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
EPLS/GSA/SAM check required
HHS/OIG check required
Education verification matching specialty (transcript or diploma acceptable if verification unavailable)
State-specific abuse registry check (KY State Abuse Registry for Home Health specialties)

Health & Immunization Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards)
Fit mask test (annual) with accepted mask types; waiver process available for failed fit tests
Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical)
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
Baseline TB risk assessment within 90 days of start, updated annually
MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or IgG titer required; declinations not accepted
Hepatitis B – Surface antibody titer, series, or declination required
Varicella – 2 vaccines or IgG titer required; declinations not accepted
Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

Competencies & Other Requirements

Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
Color blind testing prior to start
Competency exam required for clinical candidates
Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry check
Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually (not required for non-clinical)
2 professional references required (1 for non-clinical)

Facility-specific flu and COVID exemption forms must be completed if applicable
Respiratory fit test waiver process available for failed fit tests with medical or religious reasons
