Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry (Night Shift)
Location: Towson, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Details
Shift: Nights, 36 hours per week, every other week schedule (EOW)
Holiday Requirement: Holidays required as scheduled
Scheduling: Block scheduling not accommodated; special scheduling requests must be submitted at application
Patient Population: Adult and Geriatric
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
Common Diagnoses:
- General medical surgical conditions
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Chest Pain (CP)
- Cellulitis
- Osteomyelitis
- Pancreatitis
- Post-amputation care
- Small bowel obstruction
- Atrial fibrillation/dysrhythmias
- Cancer
- Palliative care
Special Procedures/Unit Details:
- EKG monitoring
- Drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, Lasix (non-titratable within parameters)
- Telemetry monitoring with support from Monitor Techs
- Use of IV pumps, oxygen, pulse oximeter, vital signs machines, sequential compression devices (SCDs), bed/chair alarms, chest tubes, Foley catheters
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Floating: Required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
On-Call: Not required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Required Competencies & Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score ≥ 80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (score ≥ 80%)
- Age-specific competency exam (score ≥ 80%)
- Color blindness testing
Health & Background Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol, updated annually
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if applicable)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for 2025-26 season
- Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel depending on facility) within 30 days of start
- Fit mask testing (N95) within 1 year of start
- Background check including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Employment history verification for previous 5-7 years
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete facility-specific documents such as confidentiality agreements, badge photos, and respirator questionnaires as required.
- Candidates must sign the job description prior to start.
- Floating and holiday work are mandatory as scheduled.
- Block scheduling is not available.
- Telemetry (Tele) refers to cardiac monitoring only.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a telemetry medical-surgical unit with a diverse adult and geriatric patient population requiring advanced cardiac monitoring and care.
