Job Summary
Seeking a Respiratory Therapist with experience in respiratory and neuro diagnostics to provide patient care across hospital floors, including nursery and emergency room support. This is a travel contract position requiring flexibility in scheduling and the ability to work varied shifts.
Key Details
- Shift Hours: 12-hour shifts, day (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM) and night (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Schedule: Rotation schedule with every other weekend required; holiday work required; no call requirements
- Patient Population: Neonate through adult (ages 0 to 100+)
- Unit: Respiratory therapy with floating to other hospital floors as needed
- Special Equipment: Puritan Bennett 980 & 840 ventilators, LTV1200 ventilators available 24/7
- Documentation System: EPIC (experience within past 2 years required)
- Medication System: Pyxis
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New York
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- NRP required, or at least some experience or exposure to the neonatal/pediatric population
- Experience working with Neonate and Pediatric patients
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Experience with EPIC documentation system
Additional Requirements & Information
- Must be flexible with schedule to meet unit and patient care needs
- Floating required to nursery and emergency room as needed
- Reliable personal transportation strongly recommended (public transportation not accessible)
- Vehicle should have all-season or snow tires during November–April
- Employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
- Complete and detailed work history required (including bed count, EMR, facility type)
- EPIC and other required modules must be completed prior to start
- Must comply with all background checks, health documents, and facility-specific policies (including immunizations, drug testing, and COVID protocols)
- Physical exam, N95 fit test, and various vaccinations required as per facility policy
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months
- N95 fit test prior to assignment and annually
- Immunizations: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination), Flu seasonal vaccination or declination, Pneumonia vaccination or declination (for NY facilities)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within past 12 months
- Drug testing within 12 months
- COVID vaccination or declination required
Documentation & Verification
- Background check covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification as applicable
- Professional references from assignments within past 3 years
- Skills checklist within past 12 months
- Work history verification for last 2 years
- Various state-specific checks and registries as required
This position offers an opportunity to work in a Level 2 trauma hospital with a diverse patient population and advanced respiratory equipment. Flexibility, recent EPIC experience, and neonatal/pediatric exposure are essential.
