Job Details
- Location: Burlington, North Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM), Every Other Weekend/Holiday (EOW/EOH)
- Patient Population: Primarily Medical-Surgical (MS) with Telemetry (Tele) capabilities
- Float Requirement: Must float to all campuses as needed for patient care
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Telemetry remote monitoring experience required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing required
- Pass/Fail Testing including EKG and Medication competency exams
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing policy
- NURSYS license verification
- State License 1 verification
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- National Tech Certification verification
Licensure & Certifications
- License: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
- Pass/Fail EKG (Dysrhythmia) exam required for all RNs (2 attempts allowed, must score 82% or higher)
- EPIC system experience required
- Other certifications may be preferred depending on unit (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification for Cardiac Progressive Care, MS/Tele units)
Key Job Requirements
- Flexible with scheduling; zero tolerance for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Must complete compliance requirements by deadlines prior to start date
- Must pass a mandatory EKG competency exam
- Patient ratios approximately 1:5-6
- Must be able to float to multiple campuses within the system
- EPIC electronic health record system proficiency required
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
- Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
- Physical exam (if applicable)
- References: 2 supervisory references required from recent assignments (within 12 and 24 months)
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Work history verification for last 5 years
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
Additional Notes
- Candidates must review and sign facility-specific policies including floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgment
- Orientation includes safety manual acknowledgment and completion of onboarding tasks
- Candidates will receive instructions for Workday login and multi-factor authentication setup prior to start
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
