ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Seattle, Washington
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Patient Ratio: 1:2
Unit Beds: 23 staffed beds
Job Description
- Care for Cardiac ICU patients and overflow from Medical ICU, Trauma ICU, and Neuro ICU, with a focus on cardiology.
- Floating to other ICUs and border areas is expected.
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend; flexibility for unit needs requested.
- Manager prefers to avoid travel pairs.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Current ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Facility & Work Environment
- Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level I Trauma center.
- Preference for candidates with experience in high volume, high acuity, teaching, and trauma facilities.
- Charting system: Epic (hard stop).
- Scrub color: Blue (provided or bring own solid color).
- Onsite parking available with daily fees; offsite parking with shuttle service available on weekdays.
Scheduling & Hours
- 36 hours per week (3 shifts x 12 hours).
- No on-call required.
- No block scheduling accommodation.
- Facility may cancel 1 shift per 2-week pay period.
- Return to office (RTO) restrictions: no more than 6 days.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start (not required by facility but needed for agency).
- Mask fit test within 12 months (3M 1860R, 1860S, or 1870+ masks).
- Required vaccinations or proof of immunity/declination:
- Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination)
- Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination (for tracking purposes)
- TB testing: Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD within 90 days of start; annual TB questionnaire required.
- Drug screening within past 12 months (agency requirement, not facility).
State & Facility Specific Requirements
- Washington State WATCH background check required.
- Suicide prevention training required for multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington.
- Demographic attestation required for multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington.
- License acknowledgment and various facility-specific forms must be signed prior to start.
- Orientation includes pass/fail testing with an 80% passing score required; failure results in cancellation.
- Annual stroke education required for ICU and neuro units (review only, no pre-start submission).

- Candidates must complete all required orientation modules prior to start.
- Floating to other ICU units and border areas is expected.

This position is ideal for experienced critical care RNs with prior travel experience seeking a challenging ICU role in a high-acuity, teaching, Level I trauma environment.
