Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (07:00 - 17:30)
  • On-call requirements: Yes

Specialty

  • Radiology / Cardiology

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty
  • Open to first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
  • Must be located more than 50 miles from the job site (locals not accepted)

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)
  • ARRT R
  • BLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)
  • CCI RCIS

Skills and Procedures

  • Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab procedures
  • Cardiac Implant Closure Device
  • Cardiac Stent Placement
  • Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)
  • IABP Placement/Removal
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Left and Right Heart Catheterization
  • Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI)
  • Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA)
  • Rotablader atherectomy
  • Scrub procedures and sterile technique
  • Equipment setup
  • Recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
  • Room circulator duties

Required Licenses

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in New York

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
  • SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, and education verification from primary source
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. as per Immigration and Control Act
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, updated monthly
  • Foreign equivalency education evaluation if applicable
  • Transcript/diploma and education verification required if no prior verification on file

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes multiple substances)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
  • COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Competency and Training

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as required
  • Color blind testing (one-time)
  • Competency exam as required by specialty
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
  • State license primary source verification within 30 days of start

Documentation and Verification

  • References (2 within 3 years) required for certain candidates
  • Employment application required
  • Annual skills checklist
  • Work history verification (minimum 2 past employments)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in New York
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, including experience within the last year
  • Current ACLS certification (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)
  • Current BLS certification (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)
  • ARRT R or CCI certification
  • Experience in diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization lab procedures
  • Experience with cardiac implant closure devices
  • Experience with cardiac stent placement
  • Experience performing diagnostic catheterizations (adult)
  • Experience with IABP placement and removal
  • Ability to interpret dysrhythmias
  • Experience with left heart catheterization
  • Experience with percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI)
  • Experience with percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA)
