Job Opportunity: Speech-Language Pathologist - Acute Care
Location: San Diego, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide speech-language pathology services in an acute care hospital setting.
- Must be comfortable floating to nearby facilities as needed.
- Proficient in Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) assessments.
- Experience working in an acute care environment is required.
Required Qualifications
- Active California Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) license.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Must be able to float to other nearby hospital locations as needed.
Preferred Start Dates
- Early May to early June (specific dates provided by employer).
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Proof of W4 and I9 documents on file.
- 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, county, state, federal, and national criminal and sex offender searches.
- HHS/OIG clearance.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Required vaccinations: Tdap, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination series, titer, or signed declination).
- Flu vaccination or documented declination required year-round.
- COVID-19 vaccination required or approved medical/religious exemption.
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 1 year of start.
- N95 fit test within 1 year of start (facility does not provide onsite testing).
- Completion of facility-specific learning modules prior to start.
- Two satisfactory professional references.
- Employment application and skills checklist required.
Additional Notes
- No scrub color requirement; scrubs provided by the facility.
- Experience with electronic health records (EPIC or Cerner) preferred; less than 6 months experience may require additional approval.
- Must complete facility standards of conduct and confidentiality agreements prior to start.
- Annual updates required for some certifications and health documents.
