ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Valdosta, Georgia

Position Overview

• Shift: Night shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 - 07:00)
• Contract Length: 8 weeks
• Patient Age Group: Adults and Geriatrics
• Unit: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) with cardiac progressive (stepdown) beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3-4 in stepdown area
• Float Requirements: ICU, CPU; float to PCU and rarely to Med Surg/Telemetry (max 4 patients)
• Weekend Shifts: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Medication System: Omnicell
• Documentation System: EPIC
• Patient Diagnoses: Cardiac diagnoses including cardiothoracic surgical patients (travelers do not take fresh open heart patients)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
• Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience within the last year
• Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or proficiency

Additional Requirements & Notes

• Facility is sensitive to recent Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) orders; candidates with recent DNRs may be redirected
• First-time travelers are accepted
• 8, 10, and 12-hour shift rules apply for called off hours and guaranteed hours
• Photo for badge required (passport style, white background, no selfies)
• Facility-specific orientation includes EPIC testing and multiple study guides for exams
• Candidates must complete facility-specific documents prior to start, including confidentiality agreement, drug and alcohol policy, handbook and dress code acknowledgment, and COVID-19 related forms
• COVID-19 vaccination required unless approved exemption is submitted and accepted
• Fingerprinting and background checks are required but fingerprinting is not required for RNs
• Competency check-off and dysrhythmia guide required for orientation
• Scrub color codes vary by unit; scrubs provided for OR and CVOR
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification required only for ER travelers after 1 year at the facility (not applicable here)

Summary

This is a night-shift ICU travel nurse position requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience, ACLS and BLS certifications, and proficiency in cardiac and ventilator care. The role involves floating between ICU, CPU, and PCU units with occasional Med Surg/Telemetry float. Candidates must pass multiple orientation exams and comply with extensive facility-specific documentation and health requirements. First-time travelers are welcome.
