Operating Room Nurse

Job Overview

  • Travel/contract role in Springfield, Illinois
  • Day shift: 4x10 hours, 12:45 PM–11:15 PM
  • 40 hours per week
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • First-time travelers not accepted
  • Weekend requirement: 1 per month
  • On-call required: 1 per week
  • Floating may be required within skill set
  • Block scheduling not available
  • Local candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • OR - Operating Room (2.5 years of experience)
  • OR - Operating Room experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • General OR and trauma experience
  • Level I trauma experience
  • Must be able to work with all service lines except cardiovascular
  • Must have experience with the following:
    • Appendectomy case experience
    • Bariatric laparoscopic-assisted cases
    • Blood product administration, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, universal protocol time-out, and urinary bladder catheterization
    • Cervical fusion case experience
    • Cholecystectomy case experience
    • Colon resection case experience
    • Craniotomy case experience
    • Electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana tables
    • Emergency management procedures
    • Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical case experience
    • Laparoscopic assisted procedures case experience
    • Mastectomy case experience
    • Neurology cases
    • Orthopedic cases
    • Plastic surgery microvascular free flap cases
    • Thyroidectomy partial/total case experience
    • Trauma cases
    • Transplant organ donation cases
    • Urology cases
    • Whipple case experience

Preferred

  • CNOR certification
  • Cerner experience
