Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry
Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Care for patient populations including Geriatric, Medical/Surgical, Adult, and Telemetry.
- Positions available on Medical Surgical Unit and Telemetry Unit.
- Must self-study telemetry strips upon acceptance; a basic dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to work on the telemetry/med surg unit.
- Estimated workweek is 36 hours with possible overtime.
- Occasional on-call may be required during low census periods; if called in, must respond and arrive onsite within one hour.
- Experience with Cerner EMR required.
Required Qualifications
- License: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification from American Heart Association or Apex Innovations.
- Experience:
- Specialty experience in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing (years of experience not explicitly stated; assume standard RN experience in specialty).
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to pass a basic dysrhythmia test during orientation.
- Must be able to work independently and respond quickly if called in.
- Cerner EMR experience required.

- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; declination accepted.
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (Sept 1 – March 31); vaccine or facility declination accepted.
- Negative TB test within the past year (TSPOT or QuantiFERON IGG) or documentation if history of positive test.
- Fit test for approved respirators completed prior to start.
- Health statement/physician statement within last 12 months.
- Background check including SS trace and county search for last 7 years.
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (9 panel, THC not required).
- Education verification and professional license verification (primary source).
- Skills checklist completed within last 12 months.
- Various state-required attestations and screenings related to abuse, employment eligibility, and compliance.
Additional Information
- Must have a current driver's license or state ID that does not expire during assignment.
- Required to complete pre-orientation computer-based learning acknowledgments.
- Must maintain professional standards and high-quality patient care.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
